Lisa Moore

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Don Byron was named a finalist for this year's Pulitzer Prize in Music for his piece "Seven," a sometimes bluesy, sometimes cheery, always surprising collection of seven short piano pieces. Lisa Moore, the pianist he wrote them for, plays some of them live in our studio.

Fascinating music - rich, wildly rhythmic, full of virtuosic technique - wonderful! I can't wait to listen to all seven. Don't even think of the word "genre". This really takes you right into a dazzling musical outback where you don't know what you may encounter next - truly an inspired kind of collaboration at the highest level.

Are we kidding?

Last week it was the Orpheus guy, and now this. Does no one right music anymore?
