Dafnis Prieto

Dafnis Prieto learned drumming in one of the world centers of that art – Cuba – and went on to play with jazz giants like Herbie Hancock and Eddie Palmieri. He then became a composer, and has received both one Grammy and one Latin Grammy nomination for his albums. He joins us with his Si o Si Quartet (Yes or Yes) for a live performance.

hello friends, great new joints dafnis! saw you w the the new quartet at the WHITNEY the other day and really enjoyed the concept: dancer, linder on piano, vocal/rap/improviser. everything you want to see LIVE! quick drummer story: played with my son montuno group the other day and in walked ROY HAINES. (the musicians promptly started tearing into the music, of course!) roy sat right in front of us and just listened (w/ cowboy hat and boots). afterward the stories flowed and you two were mentioned in the same sentence. big props, keep on, stay humble. baya
Is this the latest album that you're playing tracks from and is it titled the same name?
Thank you, Dafnis and John. The new stuff sounds great!
Killin' group, too!
You all missed my "wink!" My point is that Dafnis is a superb composer who plays drums.
Putterman:
C'mon, dude. That's so tired, man. There have been so many great drummers who were also great composers. Dafnis is all that and more, and following a great tradition.
Dafnis Prieto sets fire to any group he plays with. His compositions are so musical one wonders whether he is really a drummer ;-).
I try hard not to miss any of his gigs.
