Battle of the Boroughs: Everything You Need To Know

WNYC's The Greene Space is the place for a showdown series designed to bring out the best undiscovered bands and ensembles of all genres, instrumentalists, singers, DJs, spoken word artists and performance artists in the five boroughs. Several acts from each borough were selected to perform and compete to represent their borough in the Ultimate Battle of the Boroughs, where one act will win a concert in The Greene Space.

When are the battles?

Brooklyn: March 5 (lineup announced February 22)
Manhattan: April 2 (lineup announced March 22)
The Bronx: April 30 (lineup announced April 19)
Staten Island: May 7 (lineup announced April 19)
Queens: June 4 (lineup announced May 24)

Ultimate Battle: June 18 (lineup announced June 7)
Winner's Concert: Summer TBD

How were the artists selected?

A team of WNYC and WQXR staff members judged the initial submissions based on the following criteria: techincal excellence, innovation, artistry and performance quality.

How do I vote?

For each of the battles for the five boroughs, the first round of voting will take place exclusively with our Greene Space in-house audience to determine the top five artists of the night. The top five artists' performances will be put online at www.thegreenespace.org and open voting will begin. Only one vote will be permitted per person. The representative of the borough will be announced on Twitter, The Greene Space Facebook page and on the official Greene Space website.

The act with the highest number of in-house and online votes from the Ultimate Battle will win the Battle of the Boroughs.

What do they win?

The winner of the Battle of the Boroughs will have a featured concert in The Greene Space that will be video cast live on wnyc.org/thegreenespace. They will also receive an HD-DVD of their performance, a broadcast-quality audio recording and a professional photo shoot of your performance.
